Physical Education

“to see young people growing in physical skills,

and self-worth is a truly enriching experience.

Nowhere in school is it more visible than in PE.”

Duncan Goodhew

Physical Education plays an important part in the lives of children at Borden Grammar school.  It develops the self-confidence and gives them opportunities to take part in a wide range of activities.  Through teaching a variety of activities at KS3 we fulfil the objectives of the National Curriculum programmes of study.

Pupils in Years 7-9 now have 2 double lessons of PE per week which equates to approximately 2½ hours per week.  Alongside curriculum lessons there is a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities with different clubs running throughout the school year.

Activities covered in KS3 include;

  • Invasion Games – football/hockey/rugby/basketball/handball
  • Net/wall games – volleyball/tennis/table tennis
  • Striking/target games – cricket/rounders/softball
  • Gymnastics
  • Athletics
  • Swimming
  • Health Related Fitness (HRF)
  • Outdoor, Adventurous Activities (OAA)
  • Young Leader training
