SUBJECT - INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT)

Students undertake the Cambridge Nationals iMedia course. They receive 4 lessons per week and will complete the equivalent of a single GCSE qualification during the two years. The course is 75% coursework based and 25% examination. It involves four units, consisting of:
R081 – A theory exam that covers a broad ICT/media knowledge base. This exam is taken in the January of year 11 and, unlike GCSE courses, can be retaken is necessary.
R082 – A compulsory unit that covers graphics editing. Students will create graphics for both print and websites.
R085 – A multimedia website unit. Based around a website build students will also be expected to create other interactive objects within their site, including video, forms and maps.
FINAL UNIT – This optional unit is likely to vary from year to year, but is likely to be an interactive slideshow or a game build.
This course will provide a useful foundation for the BTEC ICT course that is run at Borden in the sixth form.
