Last week, Year 10 GCSE Religious Studies students visited the Sittingbourne Islamic Centre in Hawthorn Road. The trip was organised by Religious Studies teacher Mrs Kelly Mahoney to help the students enhance their knowledge and understanding of the Islamic faith. During the talk, students learnt about key aspects of the Islamic faith including Muslim approaches to charity (Zakat) and
the significance of angels in the religion.
For many students, it was the first time that they were able to visit a Muslim place of worship and the approach and attitude of the students was exemplary. To round off the visit, the Mosque also very kindly gifted students booklets on Islam, to help with their studies, as well as a goody bag of sweets each!
